Spent about an hour at work today just drawing pictures of Narnia characters for one of the third-graders. Once I figured out the legs, Reepicheep was *so much fun* to draw. I put him in little mouse-sized vaguely Elizabethan clothes: hat with big feather, ruff, big puffy sleeves. And then I filled up the whole other side of the page with the legs and torso of someone backing away, hands held up in a "please don't skewer me, tiny Mouse!" gesture. I also did Dragon!Eustace, with Lucy in Caspian's borrowed clothes trying to soothe him.

Man, it's nice sometimes to pretend that last book never happened, and remember how much I loved the other six. Also, nice to get drawing requests from the kids that I can actually do-- usually it's entirely too much "Draw me a Playstation!" and "Draw me a guy with laser eyes, and, and a robot, and he's exploding and he has a jetpack and there's a tiger!"

"There once was a boy named Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it" remains one of my top ten favorite sentences of all time. Possibly my favorite opening line to any book ever. Oh, C.S. Lewis. When I don't want to smack you for the Susan thing, I <3 you so *much*.
