the holiday wish list meme
Nov. 29th, 2006 03:21 amI don't think I *have* ten holiday wishes to list, unless I include a bunch of very abstract wishes. So maybe I'll do that. And hey, this can double as birthday and Hanukah wishes. Neat.
1. I'm going to be giving to Heifer International this year, and recommend it if you're looking for a charity. Partly because it's funny to say I got a sheep for Christmas, I'll admit. I'm telling any of my relatives who don't know what to get me for my 21st that they can chip in for a knitting basket.
2. For SGA to just keep doing what it's doing. Holy crap, you guys, I just watched 3x12 and it was made of wonderful. I also hope they keep casting people from other sci-fi shows in a Highlanderesque attempt to absorb those shows' powers. Because, people? It's working.
3. Any of the many, many sparkly things available at Etsy. In fact, Etsy is great for anyone with hard-to-shop-for people on their list, because you can find just about everything there, and handmade things are meaningful and never mundane. Other recommendations, for anyone who wants to support indie artists this year:
small things designs, for stunning jewelry
happy owl glassworks-- I just bought a blue beetle from them!
superbuzzy, for those who sew or like adorable things from Japan
and any of the talented folks recommended by blogs like modish, oh joy!, and happy mundane.
4. Um. the Robin shirt. I'M NOT MADE OF STONE, OKAY?
5. For all the people dear to my heart, both real and fictional, to have very wonderful years in 2007. The fictional people are allowed to have *some* trauma and disaster, but only enough to be entertaining; the real people are on orders to be happy and disaster-free. Y'all hear me?
6. To learn how to do something new in the year to come, and get better at the things I can do already. I have achieved competence in knitting, spinning, sewing, jewelry-making, and drawing; now's the time to get *good* at those things, and find new things to be interested in too.
7. Some Jen Corace art; she's awesome. Actually, refer back to Etsy for really cool art in general.
8. A new bookshelf, but I think I'm gonna have to keep hitting the thrift stores for that one. Same goes for a big squashy chair I can curl up and read in.
9. Peace on earth, goodwill towards etc. Oh, and for anthropologie to lower the prices on their unbelievably adorable aprons to the point that I would not feel guilty for buying them. Actually, that applies to basically everything they sell. Sigh.
10. the Billy Idol Christmas album. OH MY GOD.
