May. 8th, 2007 12:22 amOkay, I swear I'll stop talking about yarn soon. I mean, probably. But I never mentioned what I bought at Sheep & Wool besides my wheel, did I? Man, I need to bust out the digital camera. Sadly, it is still packed (oh, yeah. I moved. The same weekend as Sheep & Wool. Basically I am going to spend the next several days sound asleep.) but I can describe, at least, until then.
So okay, the haul: 8 oz of dark dark purple roving shot through with magenta and blue. 8 oz of a colorway called "Starry Night;" think of the painting, those are the colors. 4 oz of natural gray Coopworth, 8 of white Cormo, 8 of fawn-and-dark-brown Jacob. And, my very favorite, 5 lovely ounces of this awesome bronze-and-gray-and-blue-and-purple alpaca/merino/silk blend from the same place I got the roving for my Flower Basket Shawl from last year.
I *said* I was gonna buy things that weren't blue or brown or purple this year, but, uh, apparently I lied. Red is on the agenda, I swear. Maybe even green, or yellow!
Having test-drove the wheel on some leftover not-terribly-good fiber I had around, I am now spinning up the purple stuff as fine as I can manage. I think it might make a decent two-ply I'd be happy knitting lace with, and I have a LOT of it; I've got a bobbin more than half-full and I've still got a TON left.
The wheel still squeaks like and army of mice, and still needs a name.
