Yesterday my day started at 3:30 AM, because I had to drive one of my babysitting charges to the airport for a 6:40 flight. Oof. But we made it, and I saw her onto the plane, and I managed to get home form Dulles before rush hour got underway and do some bookkeeping and run some errands and go to the thrift store before I had to be at the shop. (The thrift store part becomes important later.)

I was at the shop from 11-7, and was running on coffee for most of that time. That would be plenty of day, but I had agreed to help run the craft room at an event my friend had organized at Strathmore-- a spring-themed party with square dancing and live music and a bunch of other fun stuff. So I still had plenty of day left.

But I hadn't planned ahead too well for that part, because I didn't have an appropriately springy outfit. Fortunately, I had a flower crown I made while babysitting and a straw boater hat in my car, because my car is a black hole. So I had appropriately springy headgear. Unfortunately, it didn't match my outfit one bit. Disaster!

However, one of the dresses I'd thrifted that morning, a blue button-front 50s shirtdress, was a perfect match! Or would have been, if it came even close to fitting. Sadly, it was a good two inches too small in the waist and I couldn't come close to fastening it across the front.

Then a genius customer suggested I cover the gap with an apron. PERFECT. I grabbed a blue floral full apron I had in the shop, and put it on. It matched the hat, it matched the dress. SUCCESS.

I closed up shop, got in the car and headed to Rockville. Spent the evening helping people make flower crowns and paint eggs, and met some cool people who sell vintage in DC, who I may be joining at some pop-up events in future.

Got home a little after midnight, and pretty much fell into bed. This was one of those days I was really glad to be an extrovert, because as long as there were people around to talk to my batteries stayed charged. Once I was home, though-- whoo.
