So, I'm curious. If the mass exodus that seems to be brewing really does happen, there's no real central place that everyone will end up at, right? LJ-based fandom is going to scatter to a lot of LJ-clones and posting boards and personal blogs and small archives and, I don't know, mailing lists. Is mailing list fandom still around? If it is, it might be getting new people.

But what if there *was* a new home for fandom? What would we need from a site? What features would we want? Personally, I think we need something that combines LJ's blogging and community-building capabilities with an archive. My ideal, pie-in-the-sky new home for LJ fandom would have a lot of LJ's features. But it would also allow things like, oh, archiving the results of a fic challenge so that the stories are searchable from the archive. And when you're reading one story you'd have the option of seeing a list of everything else from that challenge, or jumping back to the actual challenge comm. And you could jump from a list of someone's fic-- or an individual story within that list-- to the author's journal. And the search function would leave out drabbles if you asked it to, or only list crossovers, or sort by tags.

What would *your* dream home for fandom do?
