hi from Beirut!
Dec. 27th, 2007 05:48 pmSo I'm in Beirut. It's very pretty, except for the bits that are under construction, which are more than you'd think. I spend a chunk of tonight in a mall that looked exactly like a mall at home, only slightly nicer, and everyone was speaking Arabic or French. The Lebanese equivalent of Chuck E. Cheese is as loud and vaguely panic-inducing as actual Chuck E. Cheese, also. Tomorrow we go to the mountains, where I will not ski.
Anyway. YULETIDE! Oh man. I was SO EXCITED to see my story, which is perfect, perfect Astro City, the postscript to The Tarnished Angel I was not aware I needed. Thank you so much, Santa, for making it clear to me that this should have happened next.
If you haven't read The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down, you are missing out, especially if you are as much of an animation geek as me. It's Roger Rabbit in the 21st century, it's a murder mystery, it is slightly demented and fall-down funny. Read it.
When The Wing is a Sail gives me the Catherine and Tom I have been longing for since finishing the last Temeraire book. In fact, all the Temeraire fic is good; go read it.
There was also a bunch of good Discworld; this is probably my favorite.
If you were in DCU fandom and you haven't read this yet, I don't think we can be friends anymore. At last, Dan Didio and Frank Miller get what they secretly want.
There will be more recs at some point, but there's this whole being-in-Beirut thing to consider. I'll try to at least tag what I'm reading on my del.icio.us
