i plan ahead.
Feb. 14th, 2009 04:43 pmSo I think I've figured out the first, and simplest, of my Dragoncon costumes for this year: I have a yellow-and-black plaid cotton circle skirt, and a suitably '50s white button-down short-sleeve blouse. I also have some excellent pointy black granny boots. Add a crinoline (black if I can find it, but white or yellow will do), a pointy hat, and a short black cape, and voila: '50s Hufflepuff uniform.
(I first got this idea when I saw a cardigan that made me go "huh. that could have been part of the Hogwarts uniform in about 1926." But I don't have the build for '20s clothes, while I really do for the '50s.)
Still to go: something steampunk, and the tough decision of whether I can acquire or make a Galaxy Quest uniform.
Also, recommendations for the hat, cape and crinoline would be much appreciated.
