big flea! also avengers

holliToday was DC Big Flea with neotoma and my friend Cassie, who was visiting from Richmond. Usually I move through Big Flea at a pretty good clip, but they'd never been before so we took our time and ended up staying until it closed. Totally worth it, BTW. I bought a bunch of small things, mostly art-- a couple of photos, a silhouette, some small amateur floral paintings, and these:
Those two paintings on the mantel are EVEN MORE AMAZING in real life. They're of the same woman, painted by her husband in the 50s, and I won't even tell you how little I paid for them. BEST PURCHASE EVER. Of course, now I have to figure out what to do with the old, smaller 1950s fancy lady paintings I had on the mantel (yes, this is a genre I own multiple sets of paintings in)-- they're a couple of paint-by-numbers that I really love but now have no place to display.
So on Thursday I went and saw Avengers with a pack of fangirls, and it was beautiful and perfect and nothing hurt. Really, midnight opening night is the best way to see any kind of fanbait movie, because the enthusiasm of the crowd makes it a million times more fun. I especially enjoyed how our theater liked to applaud for shots of cute butts, and was entirely gender-neutral about whose butts they were applauding. I am not sure that I have a proper reaction post in me that isn't just dolphin noises, but I'm pretty sure there's going to be fic.

I own one very large canvas painting, done by a French teacher of my acquaintance, and that's exactly how I've transported it every time I've moved.)
