chair choices.
Mar. 8th, 2013 12:02 pmSo, I have four each of these chairs. (Thanks, Craigslist!)

And I have this paint going on the walls.

And the chairs definitely need new fabric. I've found nine options so far on fabric.com.

The top left is the current leader, but I'm really not sure if it would work with the walls. Anyone have any favorites, or better suggestions?

Date: 2013-03-08 06:43 pm (UTC)I am also contemplating painting a beat-up wooden bookshelf, and finding a color that will work with the walls and the other furniture is giving me fits. I suspect it's gonna end up white.

Date: 2013-03-09 12:09 am (UTC)For one thing, if the shade of blue is off, it will look hideous (she says with experience; never fabric-shop without your swatches in-hand). For another, this helps set the palate of the room, as a monochromatic matchy-matchy room, no matter how bright, starts to feel plain pretty quick. I do think that working with teak wood you can go with any 2nd color you want, even dark ones, as the teak will warm up the room. Also, dark colors have the benefit of hiding stains. Honestly, the existing red doesn't really go with that shade of blue, but just a little bit darker and a little bit cooler, and you'd have your secondary color.
(When painting furniture, gray can be a really nice option. It's also more forgiving than white.)
