prommy prom prom.
May. 31st, 2003 02:36 pmSo. The Saga of Prom. Let's start from the beginning.
You know those teen movies where the heroine gets stood up by her jackass of a date at the last minute, and the boy next door produces a tuxedo from thin air and escorts her? You know how that doesn't really happen in real life?
Well. Yeah. Let's just say I'm really glad my next-door neighbor owns a tux. Thanks, Jacob.
By the way, if anyone would like to join the road trip I'm planning to Pennsylvania, where my *former* prom date lives, so we can egg his house, you're welcome to join us.
But enough about incredibly stupid boys who SUCK. The rest of prom was actually really fun-- Jacob was an awesome date. Getting ready at Hannah's house was really fun, and I got pretty eye makeup (thanks,
jynx!), and my dress was the kick. When the boys arrived, we took pictures, and headed out to the restaurant. Dinner was fun, too-- we ate at the Mcaroni Grill entirely because they let you draw on the tables, because all my friends are secretly seven-year-olds. We weren't the only group of promgoers there, though.
I got back in Anne's car and we headed for the Metro-- the hotel where prom was held, the Bethesda Hyatt, was right above the Bethesda Metro, and it was easier to get there than by car. On our way in, a lady gave Alli her day pass because we were going to prom, and we ran into a guy who asked what school's prom we were going to on the platform. We said Churchill, and he said, "Oh! Do you know Ashley?" We said yes, and he told us she was hius cousin. Very odd.
We finally got to the Hyatt, and into the dance. The next few hours are kind of a blur-- I spent almost the whole time dancing like a big spazzy ho. Which is my very favorite thing to do, so that was good. I was surprised by who won prom King and Queen, and kinda pleased to know that I got at least one vote, and that cool people like Felicia got multiple votes. Jacob had to leave a little early-- his dad wouldn't let him go to afterprom-- but I think I did okay without him. It defninitely was as much fun as I could have hoped to have.
When we left and headed back to the Metro, there was an extremely drunk Welshman on the platform with his slightly less drunk non-Welsh friends. He hit on us a whole bunch, but he was waiting for the other train at least. When we got on our train, there was a couple in the car who asked us what school we went to, we said Churchill, and they told us they were Churchill graduates who'd been each other's prom dates... and were now married. This wasn't really relevant to us, since Anne and Alli were technically each other's dates and my date had already left, but still pretty funny. Also, they'd had a bunch of our teachers.
We got back to Hannah's and changed out of our fancy clothes for afterprom. Headed to school (the last time I'd ever set foot there! I think) and went in. they'd gone with a jungle theme, which was an interesting choice, but hey. There was a lot of fun stuff to do-- mechanical bull, moonbounce laser tag and moonbounce obstacle course, fake gambling, charicatures (not very good ones in my case-- looked freakish!), food, and some other stuff. My dad volunteered to chaperone, so he was a dealer at one of the blackjack tables. I have to say, he was nice about bending the rules so we won more. I took home a couple of prizes because of that.
We left afterprom at about four-thirty in the morning, but were still tooo wired to sleep. Me, Shira, Nicole, Bob, and Andy all went for a walk, and ended up running around the playground of the elementary school near Hannah's house. We played foursquare, Andy climbed up on the roof-- good times. Finally, we went to sleep.
We got up a few hours later and went to the Pancake House, whcih was also fun. Chocolate chp pancakes are soooo yummy. I had a great prom, despite the whole teen movie drama. Now I need to go sleep until graduation.
