Well (puts on interviewer hat), since you've done other kinds of martial arts before, what drew you to krav? What's different about it from said other kinds of martial arts?
Oh, and (takes off interviewer hat; replaces it with fact-checker hat) you've done muay thai and capoeira, right?
Two years of krav, blue belt, assistant instructor
I went to krav on a whim -- because I'd heard it was efficient, and because I was within commuting distance of the US HQ of the KM Association of America.
I stayed because the atmosphere is addictive -- it's a group of people who really like to move, who're concerned with efficiency and safety. They're so intense, and GOOD, dammit. Some of the best martial fighters I've encountered. The approach to the material is flexible, and that's reflected in the entire program. Don't think something works well? Can you think of a better idea? They'll review it and test it from all angles, and if it will make their students safer, they'll incorporate it into the system.
It's friendly, it's solicitous, they'll work you past the limits you thought you had, but they work even harder themselves. And where else will you learn machine gun defense?
