[10:01pm] Holli: Kyle should have a Robin. Possibly in the style of pre-Crisis Jason Todd.
[10:01pm] Petra: ...
[10:01pm] Petra: um? no?
[10:01pm] ElemntLad: OH HOLY HELL NO
[10:01pm] Holli: His diary entires would be hilarious, you have to admit,.
[10:01pm] ElemntLad: that man is even MORE FUCKED UP THAN BRUCE
[10:02pm] ElemntLad: is that possible?
[10:02pm] ElemntLad: I didn't think it was possible
[10:02pm] Holli: i knoooow. he needs a wee, fey little Sparrowhawk, or something.
[10:02pm] ElemntLad: *dies*
[10:02pm] Petra: Pre-Crisis Jason: I don't think Nighthawk likes me much but he's beautiful! <3 <3 <3
[10:02pm] Holli: YES.
[10:02pm] Petra: Chickenhawk. Please.
[10:02pm] Holli: hee.
[10:03pm] Petra: Nighthawk: Chickenhawk, you must be silent.
[10:03pm] ElemntLad: heh. How could you tell, Jason? BY THE FACT THAT HE BEATS YOU?!
[10:03pm] Holli: Sparrowhawk is at least a name with SOME dignity.
[10:03pm] Petra: "Can I call you 'Nightie'?"
[10:03pm] Petra: "NO. Cracker."
[10:03pm] ElemntLad: AHAHAHA
[10:03pm] Holli: ahahahaha HEE.
[10:03pm] Petra: "Awww! Please?"
[10:03pm] ElemntLad: he makes him be Crackerhawk
Also, comics roundup, which I haven't done in an age and a half. I only have the comics I've bought since coming home for spring break, though, so I'll start with those.
Okay, I should make one thing clear. I can't actually read more than three pages in a row of this comic without my brain shutting down due to something Jason or Bruce-related that UTTERLY HORRIFIES me. I just. JASON, RUN. RUN AWAAAY.
The non-Jason stuff I can deal with, and I like it-- babs! Dick's old, man-cleavagey costume! But, oh, JASON. Bruce, you fucking psycho, leave that boy ALONE.
I enjoyed this a whooole bunch. There are a bunch of non-DC comic I read and enjoy, and this might just become my favorite if it keeps this up. I *get* Milo, to a slightly unsettling degree, and the concept is enormous fun. The Giffen/DeMatteis wackiness is dialed way the hell down from their Justice League stuff, except for a few exchanges where it peeked through, but it was never enough to annoy or seem repeti tive. The art is interesting-- good, but the inking is a little weird. It's all sketchy and wobbly, and I can't decide whether I like it or not. I need an icon of Captain Valor pinching the bridge of his nose in exasperation.
Also, I already want Captain Valor/Evil Stephie hatesex. It would be hot, y'all. I'm just saying.
I finally caught up on Y, but I think I need another few issues worth of plot before I can comment. Suffice to say I really like the Hero stuff, Yorick is a darling boy even when he's being an ass, and I adore Vaughn for the reason Yorick survived the plague. Like, a bunch.
The only Marvel title I'm actually enjoying right now is Young Avengers. I mean, the *only one*. Astonishing is *good*, but it doesn't make me squee, and the only other books I'm still buying are UFF, USM, and The Pulse. And I think I'm done with them. USM is just kind of meh at this point, UFF has decompressed its storyline beyond all reason, and the Pulse has shitty art.
Young Avengers, at least, has a lot of potential to be awesome. I already adore Hulking and Asgardian and hope they get to be boyfriends, and mini-Kang is a hottie (an *angsty* hottie, even, which, bonus), and this book means I have at least one title in which Jessica Jones appears and does not suck. And Patriot is like this intriguing combination of Tim Drake's scary brain, Jason Todd's bloodthirstiness, and the Bitchy!Legion version of Cosmic Boy. Or something.
Titans... yeah, Johns, you just continue to have Tim and Kon act married, and give me tasty IC fallout, and we'll get along just fine. Dr. Light was genuinely creepy in 22, so points for that, and the new Hawk is named Holly so I'm required to like her.
I picked up the first Invincible trade, and I liked it and all, but it felt... I don't know, flat. Curiously so, because all the things I like are there, from ironic metacommentary to interesting family dynamics, but... I don't know. Maybe I'm just an angst whore, or Invincible just can't measure up to the melodramatic heights attained by the Batfamily. But everyone is kind of affectless and weird, and the little bits where they actually display strong emotion disappear again too fast and never get dealt with. Meh.
Also, Ex Machina: still good. Vaughn: still willing to have his babies. No change on that front.
