ben! folds! live!
May. 9th, 2005 02:05 amOh, how I love that nerdy man. Ben Folds, you are wonderful and I adore you.
That was such a good show. So good. I've never seen him play with a band before, and they were great- they both seem like cool guys, and the dummer is English, which is neat. We were off to the side, but quite close to the front, by the speakers, so I had a decent view, and surprisingly it wasn't too loud at all. He mostly played his solo stuff-- a lot of "Rockin' the Suburbs," but also a lot from the EPs and the new album. But about halfway through the show the band left for a little while and he played a bunch of older stuff-- "Lullabye," "Army," and "Brick" and some others. After he played "Gracie," he decided to call his home in Australia because Gracie had been sick, but no one picked up, which was sad. I spotted the girl who works at the comic book store and always has Ben Folds t-shirts in the audience, which I really should have expected. Also, he covered a Dr. Dre song, which was good times, although I've never heard it before and don't know what it's actually called. Something about bitches and hos. The drummer rapped a verse, which was awesome in his accent. The very last song, during the encore, was "Not the Same," and Ben may have gone slightly mad with power during that one.
And a boy asked me for my number.
