Was watching Inked on A&E, and... I'm starting to want a tattoo. Am I just impressionable? I mean, watching Ghost Hunters didn't make me want to hunt ghosts. And reading comics doesn't make me want to be a superhero.

...okay, that's a lie. I *totally* want to be a superhero. Impressionable it is, then.

Though a little Robin R on my ankle would be awfully cool.

I want a tattoo very badly, and they always say you shouldn't get a tattoo unless you know you want it, and I've wanted to same tattoo for, like, at least five years now.

But I can't shake the feeling that I'll change my mind.

And also it is huge and obtrusive.

ooh. describe plz!

I am a giant baby, so if I do get one it'll be teeny and not at all needle-intensive. Hence the itty bitty R.

Bat-wings! On my back, where wings would go! Which, for the record, far predates any Bat-interest; I used to want fairy wings, and then saw a picture in a book of a girl with bat-wings, and decided those were much cuter.

I, also, am a giant wuss. So I'd probably have to do it over the course of several sessions, even though they are not that large and it's mostly outline and blackwork.

Ooh. That *is* neat. I orginally contemplated a little bitty Bat-logo, but then i went "wait, no, Batman's a jackass, I like the Robins better."

I think my tattoo thoughts come from a combination of factors: the realization that like two-thirds of my friends have them, and their encouraging me to get one; also the realization that you can get one without being a weirdo or a biker or in teh Navy; seeing a bunch of documentaries on tattooing on TV; and seeing abunch of really neat tattoos, like this one (http://www.livejournal.com/community/pantsketch/74417.html#cutid1) and the one [livejournal.com profile] jynx just got.

What did [livejournal.com profile] jynx get? The one you linked is in fact quite nifty, although more obtrusive than anything I'd get (ie, why I'm not getting the bat-wings, heart them as I do).

Although honestly? A wee bat-logo would be very cute.

She got a fox, but I see the links to pictures are dead now. It's very cute, though!

That sounds either very cool or very cute, depending on the fluffiness of the fox in question.

OMG! Want!!!!

Heh. I was gonna say -- I remember the conversation we had at the DC F2F, in which you said that if you're ever in an industrial accident, where toxic waste or some such gets dumped on you, you're going to be pissed if you just end up dead or disfigured, versus getting super-powers, since that's what comics have led us to believe.

Because I still tend to think I should be able to move things via telekinesis, thanks to BTVS and Teen Titans. (Though that belief is lessening as more time passes since the last BTVS episode. Sniffle.)

Dude, *Matilda* made me expect telekinesis. Though as I get older, I resign myself to it not happening. Not because it *couldn't happen, though-- because it usually happens to precocious youngsters or adolescents, not grown-ups. Well, not grown-ups who aren't nuclear scientists, astronauts, or rogue archaeologists.

If I weren't such a huge wimp, not to mention frugal (read: cheap), I'd actually want a Superman S-shield tattooed on my chest.

That would be hardcore.

By which I may or may not mean "supremely geeky."

Would that be on par with bat-nipple piercings?
