Aw, Holli. I had lice in high school and can STILL remember how skeeved out I was by it. You propbably know this, but regular shampoo won't do it--you need Rid or any otherof those anti-lice ones. (on the plus side, they DO leave your hair really shiny!)

OUCH! Are you going to have to, like, quarentine all your stuffed animals and bedding?!! I remember having lice very vaguely from childhood, and that was the worst of it...

Well, right now, all the clothes I've worn so far on this trip are bagged up and in the freezer. Since that's supposed to be effective for killing moth infestations in wool, I figured it was worth a shot. After another day of that, washing in very hot water. AND FREAKING OUT.

My mother was a preschool teacher for years, and occasionally one of her kids would get lice and the whole house would be in chaos. The point is: when washing clothing and bedding and stuff... I think RID (since they seem to have the monopoly on lice) has degergent that you can wash your clothing in to kill the lice.

I know how skeevy it is, so I hope things get better.

Oh man. Quite a few years ago we went to Kentucky (why? I don't know. And I totally typed "Kuntucky" which I think says something) and my sister got lice twice. My mother still hasn't recovered.

Well, you know. Those Kentuckians.

*knows nothing about Kentuckians, actually*

And, oh man. *Twice*? I could NOT DEAL.

I think, actually, that she got it once in Kentucky, once shortly after we got home (I caught this one), and once a couple months later. My mother still panicks if I try on hats in stores. It's pretty bad.

Ew. I'm sorry.

Something we found worked when my sister had lice a few years ago: a 3:1:1 combo of anise oil, tea-tree oil, and eucalyptus oil (all essential oils) cut about 1:1 with vegetable oil in one of the used RID bottles. Work into the roots, leave for 15 minutes, wash out. It works as well or better than RID, and smells loads better.
