Also! I almost forgot to post about it: I got a job! Actually, I got two jobs. One is at the Maret School in DC, as a counselor for their after-school program. it's basically kid wrangling, with some arts-and-crafts and playground duty, but the school itself is really pretty and I think it'll be fun. The other is phone canvassing for Progressive Maryland, which... I don't know. It pays a bit better, but man, I am *such* a freak about talking on the phone, and I don't know if it'll make me less of a social-anxiety weirdo or *more*, doing this four four-hour shifts. So we'll see.

I used to canvas on foot for progressive maryland. I doubt you'll be able to do this successfully-nothing against you, but it takes a certain kind of person to do it- I felt a little sleazy.

Yeah, when my first call was answered by an old lady who had never heard of the organization-- apparently, her daughter was the one who'd donated in the past-- and she yelled at me because she just got out of the hospital after getting her knees replaced and had to drag herself over to the phone in her wheelchair. So, I, uh, kind of felt like a horrible person.

And I totally hate talking on the phone, but I have no problem doing it at work anymore. You kind of work out a script, so you don't really have to worry about figuring out things to say.
