I'm almost proud of myself. My car broke down.

In the left turn lane.
On University Boulevard.
During rush hour.
In the rain.

This is another one of those my-life-is-a-sitcom-on-the-moons-of-Jupiter things, isn't it?

Applause. You might not be proud, but I am. The fact that you are alive is intriguing. I cannot even physically imagine what on earth a person ought to do in that kind of situation, other than stand in the road and weep until someone 1) screams orders at you or 2) guides you quietly out of the street while someone else 'handles it', mythically, unwatched. (Like a kettle boiling.)

Well, it was raining, so I did not stand in the road. Instead, I had a small nervous breakdown while I blubbered at the very parient Triple A lady, who advised me to call 911 so the police could come put out flares. Once I did that, I called my parents and found out how to put my hazard lights on, as it's my dad's old car and I'd never needed them before. Then I, uh, sat in the car for twenty minutes until a kindly policeman helped me push my car, in neutral, through the intersection and into the church parking lot on the other side of the street.

The people at the church let me use their bathroom, which made me feel a little guilty for mocking their enourmous, light-up scrolling sign with the messages about Jesus, all those times.

An hour and a half later, the tow truck arrived. By then, I had drawn cartoon characters on the fog in most of the windows.
