I finally watched an actual episode of Battlestar Galactica tonight-- I'd been catching bits of it occasionally, and reading some of the recaps on TWoP, so I knew what was going on, but I didn't really know what all the fuss was about. I keep hearing all kinds of "omg BEST SHOW EVER, SAVIOR OF SCI-FI," but I'd been skeptical.
Now? Maybe it's a *little* overhyped, but holy crap, NOT BY MUCH. This episode was *excellent*, especially considering the people I'd been thinking of as the main characters weren't even in it. Or maybe because of that, I don't know.
What I *do* know is that-- well, we'll call them Six v.1 and Boomer v.1, and they are both awesome. I am in *love* with the fact that Six is being haunted by Gaius in *exactly the same way* as she's been haunting him, except that her Gaius tells her that God wants her to be merciful, that she should be more human. Meanwhile, Gaius's Six is doing the opposite-- telling him that his failure means God will take vengeance on them. I will, eventually, have much deeper thoughts about this, but right now I am stuck on "shiny!" That, and I am really, really happy with the idea of Boomer and Six stirring up dissension within the Cylon ranks.
Also: The baby swap. HOLY CRAP, the baby swap. AWESOME. Laura Roslin, you are an EVIL GENIUS.
I have a show I'm actually excited about watching on a weekly basis! This is shiny and new!
