...okay, this is embarrassing, but. How do I get rid of the deeply annoying menu bar thingy that has suddenly appeared at the top of every. fucking. page? Before it drives me *bugfuck insane*.

Apparently you can't get rid of it on *all* pages; that is, if an LJ user has specified that his/her LJ page should *always* show it, then you're forced to see it. But for LJs where that was NOT specified, you can turn the option off: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=264
