yuletide, whee!
Nov. 3rd, 2006 12:15 pmHoly *crap* there are a lot of people doing Yuletide this year. I have to admit, I was watching the numbers creep up and kind of hoping they'd make it to 900, just because round numbers please me, but good lord, 885 is *plenty*. We're all still gonna be reading through the archive at *Easter*. I think I got a good assignment: I have one option that takes minimal research and that I already have an idea for-- woo! as well as one that will take a *bit* more work, but does nicely as a backup if the first one falls to bits.
As for my requests,
Since I have a huge, dorky, unreasoning love for all four fandoms I listed, you pretty much cannot go wrong unless you decide to kill everyone. I am equally happy to read slash, het or gen, although it must be admitted that I don't actually *see* much slash available in fandoms #1, 2, and 4; still, if you spot some, feel free to write it.
Here's a fandom-by-fandom breakdown, just in case I didn't babble at you enough in my actual signup.
Fandom #1: I am a huge dork for the all the characters I listed, and plenty of other ones besides. Let's just get that out there right now. I would *love* any sort of plotty gen story, and would also be quite happy with any sort of romantic stuff between canonically-paired-off characters, since there's never much of it in the source text. I have to admit that I am a bit wedded to the canon, but that's just because it is such a delightful canon that it's hard to make improvements.
Fandom #2: I requested this comics fandom because, while I love love love the DCU and all who sail in her, the actual comics these days make it really hard for me to enjoy being a fan. Therefore *this* fandom, which for me is like the Platonic ideal of what the DCU *could* be, if it were stunningly well-written and only told the kinds of stories that are total catnip for me. Seriously, sometimes I just want to roll around in this 'verse and purr, it's so rich and layered and awesome. If you decide to write a story in this fandom, don't feel like you have to write any particular character, because for me it's the *world* that's the big draw; feel free to make someone up if you like, as long as they fit into the awesome Silver-Age-as-it-should-have-been tone of the world.
Fandom #3: Admittedly, this is a long shot, and yet, this is the only fandom in which I really kind of want to see slash. Mostly because the characters in question don't get enough face time in the source text, and I can't really conceive any story about them *not* being slash, just going by the way they've been written so far. But I would be equally happy with the above-mentioned plotty gen, or any sort of in-depth look at the main characters and what they're up to these days.
Fandom #4: If you write this one, you are my hero. I really have nothing to add to this request: be as weird as you want to be, and you'll probably hit the right tone.
As soon as I get a chance, I'm gonna upload a bunch of mp3s and put together a soundtrack for my Santa. At the moment, though, homework calls.
