I... may do an SPN one. But I mostly wanted to remind myself of why I like this fandom, even while I'm actively avoiding current canon.

1. Batman is just as much a persona as Bruce Wayne, Millionaire Playboy. Well, almost as much as, anyway. I agree with Chuck Dixon: you meet the real man in the Cave, with his cowl off, when he doesn't remember to keep Batman on. This is rare, but it happens.

2. Similarly, Clark Kent, Ace Reporter is almost as much of a persona as Superman. The real Clark is a lot easier to find, though: anyone he's known long enough to be comfortable around gets to meet him. Lois and his parents know him best, of course, but there's also Perry and Jimmy and Diana and Bruce and the boys.

3. Just about everyone in Smallville knows that Clark is Superman. It was kind of hard to *miss* all the sonic booms while he was growing up, not to mention the fact that the Kents never hired on half as much help as they needed. And anyway, everyone knew Jonathan and Martha hadn't had any concrete plans to adopt before they turned up at church, the Sunday after the meteor shower, with their new baby boy.

No one would ever say a word about it, though. They're Midwesterners, and he's one of their own, and it would be unutterably rude.

4. Tim would, in the right circumstances, have sex with Steph. These circumstances would not even have to involve a change of gender on her part.

5. Ted always sort of wanted a sidekick, but he didn't know if he could be responsible for a kid, and anyway he made fun of Bats too many times (though never to his face) to go out and find one. Also, Booster would never, ever, ever let him live it down.

6. Nyssa Raatko once formulated a plan to blackmail the world's superheroes by offering to use her Lazarus Pit on their dead loved ones. She never implemented it, because she couldn't build a facility secure enough to house the people she brought back: there was no way she could keep someone on Superman's level of power out.

7. If Nyssa ever *had* tried it, Guy would have cheerfully done whatever she asked him to, in exchange for Tora. Probably Bea would have helped.

8. Greta writes fanfic. Her main fandom is Wendy the Werewolf Stalker, but a lot of her flist has started writing RPF. She doesn't, because it's weird to write about people you know, but she beta-reads Titans and Young Justice RPF and gets into a lot of flamewars over other peoples' (wrong! totally wrong!) fanon.

9. Traya runs an archive with her. Anita thinks they're both weirdos.

10. Cissie really isn't ever going to be a superhero again. That doesn't mean she won't get pulled back into that orbit, but there are other things she can do. Oracle's going to need a successor one day, if nothing else.

11. Batman is right to think that it's not too late for a lot of the residents of Arkham. Harvey, Harley, Freeze, even Ivy: there are good people in there, and they can be saved.

12. Dana Winters-Drake was attacked by alien brain parasites that made it seem as though her husband's death drove her crazy. The same brain parasites have done some serious damage to Cassandra Cain, and Bruce was shaking off a mild case of them around the time of Steph's death. Fortunately, their effects are reversible, and I am confident that a cure will be found.

13. If Xander ever got zapped out of his universe and into the DCU, he and Kory would totally hook up. No, seriously, it makes perfect sense.

14. The average person on the street in the DCU trusts superheroes more than they trust politicians. They also figure that if someone really crooked manages to get elected, a superhero will do something about it. Lex Luthor did a lot of polling to figure that out, and made it a part of his campaign strategy.

15. The average person on the street in the DCU thinks Wonder Woman probably had a good reason for killing that Maxwell Lord guy. Not that they're *happy* about it, but most people could be convinced pretty easily that it was a good decision.

16. If Clark ever revealed his identity and ran for President? He could probably win, despite the whole not-a-native-citizen thing. That's why he'll never do it.

17. It's very likely that Bruce could, too. He's thought about it.

18. Kon always thought the Spoiler was kind of hot, the few times he saw her, and could not for the life of him figure out why Tim wasn't tapping that every chance he got. He... may have spent more time than a best friend should, thinking about the two of them together. Doing things. Naked things.

19. Kon also had a portion of his spank bank reserved for Tim-and-Batgirl fantasies. It's not weird as long as there's a chick in the picture, he swears. Besides, Batgirl is just *hot*.

20. In my personal DCU, death is almost never permanent, and the good guys almost always win. The exceptions to that rule are what keep people fighting.

eta: Shortpacked's take on one of the most contentious issues in comics! I approve.

You have many wonderful, true things here. This, however, is the most true of all of them, and it makes me want to hug everyone involved.

You *know* the town brought them lots of hot dish (unless that's just the Minnesota word for casserole, in which case, casseroles) when Superman died, without comment.

7. If Nyssa ever *had* tried it, Guy would have cheerfully done whatever she asked him to, in exchange for Tora. Probably Bea would have helped.
This hurts, and is also very true.

8. Greta writes fanfic.
I can't stop giggling at this, and I believe it. She and Bette probably trade stories and are a fancouple, never mind that they live on opposite coasts.

Oracle's going to need a successor one day, if nothing else.
This is putting my head in the Benway place, which is a scary place, but not a bad one, per se.

11. Batman is right to think that it's not too late for a lot of the residents of Arkham. Harvey, Harley, Freeze, even Ivy: there are good people in there, and they can be saved.
The problem with all of them is that they aren't good at staying healed. They need to get better *and* get out of Gotham, poor darlings.

13. If Xander ever got zapped out of his universe and into the DCU, he and Kory would totally hook up. No, seriously, it makes perfect sense.
If he didn't hook up with her, he would desperately want to. He desperately wants to anyway.

16. If Clark ever revealed his identity and ran for President? He could probably win, despite the whole not-a-native-citizen thing. That's why he'll never do it.
It's very likely that Bruce could, too. He's thought about it.

I would be much happier seeing Clark as President than Bruce.

Now I want the AU where they run against each other. Or, maybe, the one where they have a bitter primary battle, and end up on the same ticket against Luthor. Jamjar points out that Lois ought to run, and I agree with her.

Kon's spank bank makes me dissolve into giggles without end.

Kon's spank bank is pretty much my favorite thing on the list, and the one I KNOW to be true most of all.

And Kory is totally Xander's type: not human, able to kick his ass, kind of intimidating, unburdened by pesky social mores.

For that matter, Kory and Cordy would *so* be BFF.

...actually, it does. I can really see that.
