So, my laptop is dead. It was on its last legs; it was having trouble charging, and was out of commission for several days until I could borrow a new-to-me charger from a friend, and even then was finicky. And the screen liked to black out at random moments, though it came right back on if I shut it and opened it again. But the other day I knocked it over, and it landed facedown with an ominous sort of crunching noise, and now it is very, very dead.
In retrospect, I regret naming my last couple of laptops after Robins. The next one needs to be named after a superhero that never, ever gets killed. Any suggestions?
At the moment, I'm imposing on one of my roomates and borrowing his laptop a lot, but with Yuletide looming I really need a computer. Argh. I have a couple of options, all of them more expensive than I'd like, but I do have a birthday coming up and may be able to convince my parents to go halfsies on the first actually new (as opposed to new-to-me) computer I've had in some time. Sigh.
In other news, I have an *awesome* plan for my Yuletide story. I need some background detail, though, so if there's a history buff on my flist who'd like to help, that would be lovely.
