So, my laptop is dead. It was on its last legs; it was having trouble charging, and was out of commission for several days until I could borrow a new-to-me charger from a friend, and even then was finicky. And the screen liked to black out at random moments, though it came right back on if I shut it and opened it again. But the other day I knocked it over, and it landed facedown with an ominous sort of crunching noise, and now it is very, very dead.

In retrospect, I regret naming my last couple of laptops after Robins. The next one needs to be named after a superhero that never, ever gets killed. Any suggestions?

At the moment, I'm imposing on one of my roomates and borrowing his laptop a lot, but with Yuletide looming I really need a computer. Argh. I have a couple of options, all of them more expensive than I'd like, but I do have a birthday coming up and may be able to convince my parents to go halfsies on the first actually new (as opposed to new-to-me) computer I've had in some time. Sigh.

In other news, I have an *awesome* plan for my Yuletide story. I need some background detail, though, so if there's a history buff on my flist who'd like to help, that would be lovely.

I sorry :(

I'm getting this for Christmas http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115514

I have a desktop replacement laptop and it's huge and heavy and I don't take it anywhere b/c it's so huge and heavy. So, I asked Santa for a cute little netbook that could double as a Kindle (I really want one of those too) This one is actually better than my big huge laptop. Bigger HD, better Proc, more RAM. All in all a much better PC than one I paid $1800 two years ago.

The keyboard is 90%, so it's not like it's terribly small. IDK I really want one ;)

Name your next laptop Wolverine.

I learned the same lesson when I named my first iPod Angel, and then its lifespan was tragically cut short.

...but shouldn't it have come back?

I suppose I could *really* tempt fate and name something Darla, and see how many times it dies and comes back.

I am going to second the Plastic Man suggestion. :D

My laptop is also dead. Suddenly and dramatically, but it is still under complete care warrently, so I get a new one soon.
