ye olde... varletty thou
Dec. 21st, 2008 07:04 pmSo my birthday was fun-- I went to Medieval Times, as mentioned. The jousting and fighting were SUPER fake, like, thanks for not even trying, guy, I SAW you throw yourself off your horse fully ten seconds after the other dude hit you with a lance. But it was cheesy and fun, and the food was okay, although certainly not great by any stretch-- I sort of wish I'd asked for the vegetarian option once I saw what it was, but half a chicken is good too.
Also I dressed up probably more than necessary for it, but I've been having amazing thrifting/Rugged Wearhousing luck lately and wanted an excuse to wear pretty things. I wore this really cute black jersey dress with short sleeves, a surplice neckline, and a knee-length skirt with little pressed-in permanent pleats (thrifted four four bucks, also, which is nice). I also just got a really cute gray cardigan with three-quarter sleeves, big covered buttons, and ribbon trim (Rugged Wearhouse, $14). So I wore those with gray tights, and a gray-black-and-white woven scarf I got for Hanukkah, and black ballet flats with ankle straps. I sort of wish I'd had more stuff to wear it to than Medieval Times, but I'm sure I'll find another excuse for it soon.
I think I need to try getting my wardrobe into some kind of order, especially one that reflects the way I want to dress. I have a ton-- like, depressingly a lot-- of incredibly cute clothes that I love and don't wear, mostly because I can't figure out an outfit to incorporate them into. Some things will just have to wait until I find the right pieces to go with them-- for instance, I got an INCREDIBLY cute black corduroy jumper recently, and do not have any sort of appropriate shirt to wear under it-- but I suspect once I have everything in order it'll get a lot easier to put outfits together.
Man. I sort of miss summer, when I could just put on one of my large number of really cute thrifted sundresses and be done.
