[personal profile] seize and [personal profile] srevans and I are moving! Our terrible, terrible apartment got to be too much for us (well, at least for me and Gray; Sarah doesn't mind) and we found a more expensive, but still quite reasonable, house in a much quieter part of college park. It's a cute little brick house, built in 1939, and freshly renovated by friendly and attentive landlords. WOO HOO. We'll be out of the craphole by the end of Thanksgiving weekend, and hopefully embarked on a new life of having lever floors and no drafts and more than five minutes of hot water at a time. And if, say, just as an example, the toilet breaks, it won't take FIVE DAYS before our mean, crazy old landlady fixes it.

Anyway. Yuletide! I asked for three comics fandoms this year, in the hope that whoever get my request will be familiar with more than one of them. This is part of my sneaky plan for there to be more Tom Strong fic in the world, because the really should be, guys. Actually, hey, people on my flist who can no longer cope with mainstream superhero comics: have you read Tom Strong? You really should! It's fun, lighthearted Golden Age science-adventurer stuff, with the horrendous racism and sexism removed! Also it has Tesla Strong, aka my FAVORITE. EVER. This is a pretty good introduction to the awesomeness of Tesla, but for full effect you have to read the story where she gets kidnapped by, ahem, a big game jungle-girl hunter. (She gets the other jungle girls-- all thinly veiled versions of Sheena Queen of the Jungle and things-- to team up against the guy, and he says a lot of things like "Gasp! My highly symbolic weapon has been torn from me!" and "These women possess a feral cunning that is almost human!" and also I think the art is by Bruce Timm. Santa, I am trying to track this down for you.) Ooh, or the one where she universe-surfs around, meeting AU versions of herself. I believe one of them is a bunny.

In addition to Tom Strong, I asked for Top Ten, specifically the Forty-Niners, which has quite a lot in common with Tom Strong; both are by Alan Moore, both fit into the mental category I call "retro superhero adventures minus the stuff that makes actual old comics less fun to read." Santa, if you haven't read Forty-Niners or need a refresher, here's a download. Everyone else, you should totally read Forty-Niners, it's awesome.

My third request, Polly and the Pirates, is a bit different, but no less a fun comic that I totally enjoy. And )
