thoughts at an ungodly hour
Feb. 18th, 2003 12:27 amI'm sitting here listening to my vast collection of pirated mp3s (thanks, Limewire!), and it's occuring to me that the Internet is a wonderful thing. I can find just about any damn thing that strikes my fancy, and that's especially evident when you look at my GrayAMP playlist. I can find any song I want, no matter how obscure-- I want Ben Folds singing "Hava Nagila?" Well, I can damn well find it, and find that it kicks ASS. Same goes for a punk cover of "The Rainbow Connection," or most of Beck's "Sea Change" five minutes after I heard songs from it on SNL. The Internet's great for that kind of niche; interest in something relatively obscure and geeky is, after all, how the Buffistas got started.
Sometimes I wonder how people managed to be geeks without the Internet, and then I feel very, very young.
