So I got a package in the mail from Amazon yesterday, which was a bit mystifying since I hadn't actually ordered anything from Amazon. I opened it up to find a copy of "Ghost World," and a note on the receipt identifying the sender as some completely random person from germany or somesuch saying that I was his favorite columnist at Bookslut and he wanted to send me a thank-you. Which is all very nice, but I'm still completely creeped out by the idea of some guy half a world away who decides to send me a comic book on the strength of two book reviews and a not-terribly-insightful essay on teen geekdom. My parents already think I'm going to be horribly axe-murdered by one of my weird Internet friends; now I have weird Internet *strangers* to worry about too. Ack.

Look at it this way: this particular internet stranger would have to make a huge effort to axe-murder you, what with booking a trans-Atlantic plane ticket, etc., etc.

Still weird, though.

Huh. I'd heard of people who TRIED to get people to do that (and succeeded), but...still weird. Though first I thought it was going to be that a buffista had sent you something. Which would be less weird, in my mind. Cause, see, I've met many of them. Even if not you. :)
