Oh, shit, you guys. YOU GUYS.

You know what really needs to exist? A Firefly/Casablanca pastiche, in the style of cofax7's Bellum Interruptum or yahtzee63's As Time Goes By. (There are more of these in other fandoms, right? Somehow I've been going along thinking there were a lot more than these two.)

So clearly this needs to exist, and the reason I'm all excited about it is because I think Inara would have to be Rick, and Mal would have to be Ilsa. I mean, right? That would just be-- oh man. Can that exist now, please? (If it does already, I need to know IMMEDIATELY.)

The ur-text for the Casablanca pastiche is Pellinor's Letters of Transit, which is an XF AU where Pendrell plays Victor Laszlo. It's awesome, and it's the story that gave me the idea for Bellum Interruptum.

I have never heard of a Firefly version, but that would be pretty cool. Who plays Victor here? YoSafbridge?

...I *think* Zoe would have to be a non-romantic Victor. I'm imagining a post-movie story where the war has broken out again, in large part due to Miranda becoming public knowledge, and Mal and Zoe are leading the revitalized browncoats. The story would be about how Mal's recaptured the fire and joy of a righteous cause he had before Serenity Valley, and Inara knowing she can't keep him from that. I think.

I also have the sneaking suspicion that Kaylee is the Sam.
