At the thrift store today they had one of my favorite things to see at the thrift store: a giant cardboard box of comics with "40 cents ea" written on the outside in grease pencil. The contents turned out to be from the late seventies and most of the '80s, evenly split between DC and Marvel. I bought about 25 comics: a bunch of Blue Beetle and JLI, some Infinity Inc (unloveablehands, these are yours if you want 'em), and a couple of other things.

There was a bunch of other stuff that looked good, but was not my particular interest-- some Guy Gardner: Warrior, a lot of NTT, what looked like a Question miniseries by Denny O'Neill, a lot of just-pre-Crisis JLA. And all the Marvel, too-- apparently someone really, really liked Alpha Flight once upon a time. And Iron Man, with a slight interest in Captain America. If anyone wants me to go back tomorrow and grab them something, I'd be happy to.

Oh! And! I got that comic where J'onn turns into a girl. Man, comics is a good fandom sometimes.

In other news, in the car driving home I made up two verses and a chorus of a pop song about Ampata.

apparently someone really, really liked Alpha Flight once upon a time

Not surprising. The original, John Byrne run of Alpha Flight was one of the better superhero comics ever published.
