So I just watched the SPN premiere, and am hopeful. Is there going to be a thing with this show where I only like the even numbered seasons? Because, I mean, that's way better than them having a second season I really liked and sucking thereafter, but it's still kind of weird. Spoilerwise, Kripke continues to not have an original thought in his little head. Bless his heart, though, I thought Scary Angelic John Constantine totally worked.
I also kind of like the rapport Sam and Ruby have going. I suspect that the two of them had something approaching an actual friendship while Dean was gone. Ruby seemed a little sad to see Sam backing away from her, now that Dean's back. As for Dean himself, what I mostly have to say is Deeeeeeeeeeean. I missed you! You are still retaining some of your S3 dickishness towards women, though. Please fix that.
So Dragoncon was nineteen kinds of awesome-- photos are up at Flickr here. Highlights include hanging around Ted Naifeh's table in the Artist's Alley and talking about Batman a lot (I talked about Batman a lot with lots of people, but Ted Naifeh was the best), the Venture Bros. panel whose awesomeness cannot be conveyed in mere words, Tamora Pierce calling Harlan Ellison an "arch-critical obnoxious little troll" in a panel on YA lit, and OH SO MUCH MORE. Also, now I have a delightful drawing of Ted Kord with a slight paunch.
The next couple of weeks are going to be so so busy, omg. This weekend I finally get to Renn Fest, next weekend is the double blow of awesomeness that will be the National Book Festival and Crafty Bastards, and the weekend after that is the Small Press Expo. I am going to spend so much more money that I should. SO MUCH MORE.
