So, yesterday I went thrifting with
seize, and found a couple of cute things: a teeny-tiny dress to sell on Etsy, and an actually-fitting me dress that I thought might work for a party I'm going to next week. After I dropped her off, I still had some time to kill, so I stopped in at a different thrift store, one I go to often and where I wasn't really expecting to find anything great.
Well, there was a perfect 50's party dress in exactly my size hanging in the dress section. Matching belt, all its buttons-- hell, even the thread belt loops were still there, and those things fall off half the *new* dresses I buy in three wears. This dress is *pristine*. And it is so, so, cute-- black, with a pattern of tiny dark-pink rectangles, a wee decorative collar, a row of tiny covered buttons and loops down the bodice, and nice deep pleats to make the skirt full. AND IT FITS. OMG.
It was $20, which is a lot more than I'm usually willing to spent at the thrift store, but hell, when the thrifting gods give you a present, it's rude to turn them down.
And then I went to
paula_kelley's and we had an Etsy photo shoot. Possibly this will lead to some of the cute vintage clothes I have, but don't wear, moving on to good homes. The Dress, however, is staying with me.
