dream team
Mar. 19th, 2009 11:41 pmI've seen this image linked around a couple of places-- if you can't click, it's comics artist Sean Murphy's dream-team crimefighting lineup, which consists of the Rocketeer, Snake Eyes, Albert Einstein (with a sword!), Indiana Jones (on a motorcycle!), Wolverine (in Indy's sidecar!) Henry Rollins, Gambit, the Grey Ghost, Zorro, Picard (with a tommy gun!), and Madmartigan. So, uh, pretty amazing, clearly. He says it's all his childhood heroes, which makes me really approve of his taste.
But now I wish I could draw better than I can actually draw, so I can make an all-girl dream team. Oh man. Who would I put on it? Uh, okay. If I have to keep it to eleven, like the original, that would be Buffy, clearly, but also Marie Curie and Jane Austen (they would fight crime with science and keen observations, respectively). Also Aeryn Sun, and if we're being honest about the "childhood heroes" part, Alanna of Trebond is definitely in there. And Matilda Wormwood. And DCAU Batgirl, but, sadly, also animated X-men Jubilee. Ooh! And my last three are Angua, Meg Murry and Princess Cimorene.
Wait. Crap! That leave out Marion Ravenwood AND Princess Leia, which is clearly no good. I have some hard decisions ahead of me. I mean, Sue Dibny! And Steph Brown! Man, I could make a whole set just from DCU.
Okay, I came up with a final lineup:
1 Buffy Summers
2 Jane Austen
3 Marie Curie
4 Aeryn Sun
5 Alanna of Trebond
6 Leia Organa
7 Matilda Wormwood
8 Barbara Gordon
9 Tesla Strong
10 Traci 13
11 Cimorene of Linderwall

Date: 2009-03-20 02:54 pm (UTC)Contenders for my team:
Artemis (goddess)
Athena (goddess)
Dian Fossey (zoologist)
Jane Goodall (zoologist)
Ada Lovelace
Livia Drusilla (aka Julia Augusta)
Matilda Wormwood
Lyra Belaqua
Penthesilea (my favorite Amazon)
So, some cool ladies, a badass Roman, two gods, two kids, and an amazon. I should pick either Artemis or Athena, probably, but I just can't choose ...
