There are mulberry trees all along the back field at the school where I work, and for the past few days I've been taking kids back there to pick berries. It's fun, and they seem to really enjoy doing it. So today, when I got home,
srevans and I walked down the street a few blocks to where there's a little mulberry tree, and picked a bunch of berries, and most of them are already gone because they are yummy. I wish more people around here planted fruit trees; mulberry is practically a nuisance plant, so it grows like mad without encouragement. But why don't more people plant apple trees and things? They grow fine in this climate, and this neighborhood has old enough houses that you'd think there'd be more, but no.
