Just finished Murder Must Advertise. Is it me, or does Peter Wimsey's evident glee at having a spare identity possess strange parallels to Miles Vorkosigan? It was a really fun read, anyway. The cricket scene was great, because I understood less than two words in three, and yet was totally engaged in the story.

Ooh, speaking of detectives! I bought a lot of old photos at a yard sale a few years ago, and ever since have made occasional attempts at locating a member of the family they belonged to. Well, I was finally successful, and spoke to the family's youngest daughter on the phone on Friday-- she's super excited that the photos have been found, and I'm giving them back to her on Monday. It's a little bit of a wrench, because they're really great and I've loved having them, but I'm trying to consider myself just their temporary custodian. Now they're going back to the rightful owners.

I think you're 100% right about Deth Bredon == Admiral Naismith. In fact, Peter almost seems younger when he's undercover, too, and a bit more… on? Something?

Well, I think when he's at Pym's he has the "piffle" dial turned up to 11, at least at first (not for nothing is the first description we get "like a blond Bertie Wooster in horn-rims.")

But when he's being the Harlequin, and for much of the back half of the book, yeah. He seems to see his undercover ID as an excuse to pull out all the stops, which is very Miles.
