Does anyone have any experience with old black paper photo albums? I have to figure out how to get good scans of these pictures, which are glued to the album pages, and I'm a little afraid of trying to peel them free. But the pages are disintegrating and they're mostly not attached to the actual album anymore, so what now?

You could use an exacto knife to cut them out while keeping the backing in place?

No good-- there's photos glued on front and back.

Having Googled, the recommendation I keep seeing is to put the pages in the freezer, but that makes me nervous.
