I really, really want to write a Wimsey/Doctor Who crossover. I have the plot of said crossover pretty well outlined, but I doubt my ability to sound sufficiently British. Lord Peter's voice, in particular, worries me. This is a dilemma, because I'm pretty sure it would be an awesome story if I could actually write it. Alas. Any ideas, flist?

Find a good Britpicker? I know the Potter fandom had a ton of those, I'm sure Who fandom must have a few.

My suggestion! Read books that have the 'sound' you want. Read enough of them and it sort of has a lasting effect for a while.

I was gonna suggest britpicker too, but I got beaten to that.

I don't know whether this is helpful or the opposite, but have you read [personal profile] ellen_fremedon's No Man's Land? Speaking of Who/Wimsey crossovers.

And, hey, go for it! Swing boldly! And then get a Britpicker. *g*

I can't do Wimseyverse voice to save my life, and I'm British, so I am in awe of you even considering tackling it. I think as long as you get a britpicker you should be fine. :)

Modified Anne Lamott: write "American First Draft" at the top so you forgive yourself. Then, yes, edit and get a Britpicker.
