Can we blame her for whatever happened to shoulder seams in the 1840s? Because it's like she banned them or something.

I always have blamed Queen Victoria! The, possibly apocryphal, version I heard was that Queen Victoria had sloping shoulders that nothing could disguise, so a virtue was made of necessity and sloping shoulders became fashionable.
