So, this July 4th, I am throwing Steve Rogers a birthday party.

It'll be like a regular 4th of July party, but BETTER, because there will be a mandatory 1940s dress code and a giant cake with a bajillion candles and 'HAPPY 95TH, STEVE' on it.

Localistas, I am dead serious about this. Who's in?

I am pretty good at approximating vintage outfits with modern clothes, if you don't have anything actually old. Also, I am always happy to take people thrifting.

I don't know that I could find a 40's style outfit that would fit, but I am interested.

I might be able to help you with period dishes -- I've got the cookbook from the "What's Cooking, Uncle Sam?" exhibit, and there are quite a few period recipes in there.

As long as it won't be too expensive (sadly, money is pretty tight this summer if I'm going to make it to Vividcon in August), I'm totally up for it. This is the first time since I was 16 that I won't be working on July 4th.

Honestly, if you have time, I'm really tempted to let you take me thrifting once I get my next paycheck on the 15th. I still have to come up with a Club Vivid outfit for this year's Vividcon, and a 1940s outfit would be about as different as possible from my dress last year.

In that case, as I said, I get paid next on the 15th. It will probably take all weekend for my credit card payments from that paycheck to go through, but I'm definitely interested in trying to find a 1940s outfit anytime after that.
