I was really disappointed to find out that in my current fandom (Flashpoint), the male half of the central het pairing, a combat veteran, was canonically a knitter before they cut that out of the pilot script.

Aw, why would they cut that? That is awesome!

The first season was mostly him being an emotional dork having problems fitting into this elite police unit. I think they figured making him a knitter would gild the lily, and unfairly malign knitters.

It can live on in fic, though.
