Big Flea, and thrifting
Jul. 26th, 2012 08:46 pmForgot to mention that I hit DC Big Flea with
neotoma and my housemate this Sunday-- got a ton of clothes for the shop, and a pink Swirl wrap dress for me, which was nice. Today after working at the shop I went thrifting, and picked up a few things for the shop-- new stuff, but cute-- a couple of small black frames for an art project I want to do, and a framed set of taxidermied butterflies-- 7 of them, arranged vertically.
I've seen framed butterflies at thrifts and antique shows before, but they tend to be either in poor condition or out of my price range. I've really been wanting a set, though-- or even one-- so they've been on my List of Things to Keep an Eye Out For While Thrifting. (It's a long list.) These were in great condition and only $3, so I grabbed them.
I had a couple of tiny butterfly prints from an antique shop in Kensington that I hadn't hung yet, so I grouped them with the real butterflies. I think they look nice together:

ION, DC Zinefest is this weekend, and I'm debating whether I want to make a frantic attempt at putting together a new zine in the time I have left, or just bring copies of my old one from last year. I am leaning towards the latter.
My burning desire to talk about the Avengers at all times seems to be subsiding a tiny bit. Possibly this is because I am back on my proper keep-awake meds and no longer relying on caffeine as a stopgap; caffeine has the odd side-effect of making me write like crazy. I miss it a little, not gonna lie.

Date: 2012-07-27 01:44 am (UTC)Everyone likes butterflies. Well, except this one kid at the butterfly trail I went to last month. Her parents had to keep assuring her they wouldn't bite her.
So the first thing the guide says when we walk inside is, 'keep an eye on your children because the butterflies WILL land on them and carry them off'
Kid: O_O
