Sorry this is late, my dearest Yuletide author. In my defense-- well, no, I have no defense, I'm just late. Sorry.

Anyway, Yuletide! I asked for three fandoms, two of which are closely related (at least in my head). For the benefit of people who aren't my Yuletide author, here they are, along with my optional details:

Top Ten:

I dearly love this comic, and would be happy with just about anything featuring its characters. I love the prequel, Top Ten: The Forty-Niners, more than just about anything, so a story featuring the Forty-Niners characters would be a delight. If you haven't read Forty-Niners yet, I'll have a download link on my journal (and here it is; also, ALP and TSG are avilable via the Gutenberg Project)-- it's a quick read.

Things I would especially love in this fandom: Steve/Wulf, slice-of-life stories, outsider perspectives, crimes being solved. I would also be super excited to read a story in which a modern-day Top Ten character time-travels to a past era of Neopolis.

The Secret Garden:

So I would love to see a teenage or grown-up Mary, and as I'm also requesting A Little Princess a crossover between the two would not go amiss. Obviously that's by no means a requirement, but if you feel inspired I say go for it. Teenage Mary and Sara interacting would be awesome. If you just want to write a Secret Garden story, though, there are a lot of cool stories to tell: what happens to the characters during WWI, what happens to Misselthwaite over the years, and plenty more.

A Little Princess:

I would really love a story about how Sara navigates class: she's moved around the class ladder a lot more than most people get a chance to in her time period, and I's really enjoy reading about how her experiences inform the way she interacts with people of different classes as she grows older.

As I mentioned in my other request, I'd also enjoy seeing Sara interact with Mary Lennox. I think Sara would probably like Mary quite a lot, but she might drive Mary nuts, at least at first.

So, that being said, what other things do you need to know, dear Yuletide author? Well, first of all, relax, because I am sure to like whatever you write because it will be in a fandom I love dearly. That said, there are a few things I am not particularly fond of, so let's get them out of the way: I would not terribly enjoy a story involving noncon or dubcon, the gratuitous deaths of characters, or extreme darkness or bleakness. Oh, and I don't particularly enjoy power and age imbalances. In all honesty, I do Yuletide in the hopes of getting a fun, happy, reasonably upbeat story, and while I have no problem with a little sadness I always hope for it to be tempered by a happy ending.

Okay, so that's what I don't want. What do I want? Well, in Top Ten I would tremendously enjoy a Steve/Wulf story, but would be just as happy with gen adventures. In TSG or ALP I am pretty sure I would prefer gen, but I have been circling the idea of Mary/Sara femslash for some time, trying to decide whether I want to read it or not. If you would like to convince me of its merits, I say go for it.

Top Ten is a fandom where basically any SFnal trope is possible, and I love me some tropes so feel free to break them out. I think an SF or fantastical AU of TSG or ALP would be a fascinating exercise, and I'd be really interested in reading one, although I'm also very fond of the original settings. Tropes I particularly enjoy: mistaken identities (especially the She Stoops to Conquer/Miles Vorkosigan kind of identity mixups and superheroic secret identity shenanigans), fish-out-of-water hijinks, best friends who realize they're in love with each other, and various crack clishes-- amnesia and inconvenient mad science and things.

One thing I really love, that is relevant to all my requests, is history. Top Ten has a fantastic sense of history to its universe, as well as amazing retro style in Forty-Niners, and ALP and TSG are pretty firmly rooted in the Victorian era. Stories that draw on that would be much appreciated.

I hope I've given you enough to go on, dear Santa. Thank you so much for writing me a story, and I wish you minimal bears.
