whoops, i tripped and fell and bought a sofa

In my defense, look how cute this is.

And if I find a set of tall bookshelves for the upstairs landing, I don't think I can be held responsible for what happens. Right?

Right? AND it's already six blocks from my new house. I'm going to see it in person in the morning and pay a deposit so she holds it til I move.

Ahhhh that is my couch! Only mine is not gingham it's a different pattern (reupholstered before it came to me). Although I'm pretty sure that's not Victorian (1940s, I would have thought): if it were Victorian, it would have a carved cherub on there somewhere.

My grand experience of moving said couch: it's not the length that got me but the fact that doors in an old house are narrower than you think. Most of my interior doorways are 30" (one is 29"), and the couch is baaasically 31" at its widest point. Luckily that widest point is a padded, smooshy point, so I could just smoosh it through the door. It was a close thing, though.

Yeah, I don't think it's actually Victorian either, and I would be willing to bet it's been reupholstered at some point, but boy do I not care, it's ADORABLE. I am excited to be couch twins with you!

The new house has decently wide doorways and we really only have to get it through the front door, so I think we'll be okay.
