dragoncon: the costuming
Jul. 31st, 2013 10:09 amAs it turns out, I actually have a whooooole bunch of costume options for Dragoncon this year. Some may have to be vetoed on the grounds that wool jackets in Atlanta = bad news, but here's what I have ready to go:
-Star Trek: The Greatest Generation (1940s interpretation of a Starfleet uniform)
-Empty Child gas mask zombie (WWII nurse uniform + gas mask)
-Wendy Watson (Eisenhower jacket, black pants, white shirt, black tie)
-Eleventh Doctor (tweed, bow tie, etc.)
-American Girl Molly (40s red and black plaid jumper, peter pan collared blouse)
And I have a few others I can put together from clothes I already have handy:
-Beauxbatons outfit for the Yule Ball (50s silvery-blue party dress, silver witch hat fascinator)
-Peggy Carter for the Avengers Ball (red 40s dress, appropriate hair & makeup)
-Chuck Charles (any of my not insignificant number of 50s day dresses, pie, plastic wrap)
And then there's my Romana II City of Death outfit, which still needs red Mary Janes. I am starting to suspect it's not going to happen, because plain flat red Mary Janes are goddamn impossible to find. Sigh.
Looking over this list, I am wearing a surprising amount of 40s stuff, considering that my usual eras are 50s and early 60s. Guess I need to practice my victory rolls.
