Jun. 22nd, 2003 06:51 pmMy iPod is lonely. I'm in the process of transferring my CD collection to it, but even when that's done I'll probably still have like twelve or thirteen gigs of room left. 7500 songs turns out to be whole freaking lot.
Recommend me something new?

Date: 2003-06-22 05:03 pm (UTC)But, randomly,
you're right about the huge amount of stuff you can put on an iPod. When my friend got one, she said "John I think there's something wrong with iTunes, see how it has, instead of 12:35:06 for Total Playing Time, there are more digits on the left -- 2:12:35:06!"
I said lovey, that's days. You have two days, twelve hours, thirtyfive minutes and six seconds of music encoded.
We're not used to thinking of music in days, are we?

!!!
I don't know if I'd like to hear that or not.
I love Ben Folds -- he lives in Australia now, did you know? -- but I haven't really heard his new stuff since the Five broke up.

Date: 2003-06-22 07:03 pm (UTC)He's touring with Tori Amos over the summer, though-- I'm seeing them at the end of August. And I love him to death, even though he doesn't really know the words to Hava Nagila.

Holli, you should check out The Innocence Mission (http://whatarerecords.com/artist/innocence_mission/main.html), with whom I am newly infatuated. Their music is just so sweet, and clear, and understated, and Karen Peris has an amazing kind of voice.

Based off your list, some things I think you might like:
Mike Viola & the Candybutchers (http://www.candybutchers.com)
Rhett Miller (http://www.elektra.com/elektra/rhettmiller/index.jhtml;jsessionid=1Z0W1JGTPQMQKQAMEEQSFEY?_requestid=35523)
Lavababy (http://www.lavababy.com)
They are all good poppy stuff in their own way.
For me at the moment, I can't stop listening to Elvis Costello, Pink, and the Empire Records soundtrack.
