I feel like I did a lot yesterday and today, although I'm not sure I actually did any more than usual. I read a good chunk of Bird by Bird (an excellent book on writing) last night, which was cool, and introduced me to the very useful concept of short assignments-- saying "I'm not sitting down to write the Sweeping Love Story of Connor and Dawn, I'm writing a paragraph about a party. And then I'm writing a scene where a boy meets a girl at the party, and really likes her, and then I'm writing the bit where he's appalled to find out she's a freshman..." and so on. So that was good. And last night I had weird dreams-- odd anxiety stuff I can't really remember, and then a bit where I met Madrigal from b.org at a takeout counter, even though (and more's the pity) I have never met anyone from b.org.

And this morning I went to the bus stop, and got on the bus, which was free because it's a Code Red day for air quality (and I just know I'm gonna get the air quality alerts and the terrorism alerts mixed up) and I went to work. And at work I logged files into the computer, and I made ninety kajillion copies and got seventy thousand new paper cuts.

At lunch, there was a really cute boy outside the Barnes & Noble trying to get people to join Greenpeace. But I have no money for such things (or at all), so I offered him some of my sushi because I had more than I wanted (or, as I dorkily put it, "well, I can't help financially, but maybe I can contribute lunch...ally?" and whyyyy can't I talk to boys?).

Then i filed some more, and put files in boxes, and got paper cuts, and listed to my iPod for like a year. And then I ran out of boxes. So I left work and went across the street to Second Story Books, where I found like twelve things i want but have no money for. So I left, because not having book money makes me sad. And there was a girl sitting outside reading Volume II of the Sandman, which i recognized because of the black speech bubbles with white text and squiggly edges. So we geeked over that for while. And then i got on the bus, which was still free and had that weird kid from Churchill who once dyed his eyebrows red so he looked like Elmo. on it.

But it took forever to get home because there was soooo much traffic on Seven Locks and River, and my bus driver was a mumbly weirdo. And then i went home, and collapsed in a big heap.

Also my, mom is weird. She's been bugging me to have a graduation party, and now that I want to have one on a specific day and to make plans and everything... she wants me to have a going-away-to-college party at the end of the summer instead. I'll talk her out of it. i hope.

I've had Buffista dreams before, before and after I've met Buffistas. They're far more realistic after, though.

I just realized I haven't talked to you since the phone call. How's life?

And go with a graduation party instead of going away. Parties at the end of the summer suck, and if you're anything like me you'll want to spend that time with your family instead of a bunch of people.
