I'm curious about whether I have the power to start a meme. So: I present to you the My First Crush meme.

Tell me about your first big crush, that long-ago pigtailed and/or cowlicked kindergartener you shared Play-Doh with back in the day. Did you try to play house with him? Did you punch her on the arm and run back to your friends? Or did you swoon from a distance, never revealing your true feelings? Leave a comment detailing the agony and the ecstasy of your first True Love, then cut-and-paste this into your own journal.

I'll start. His name was Joey. He had a picture of a kangaroo on the laminated nametag above his cubby in Mrs. Jackson's kindergarten class. I sat next to him during story time, but I was in a more advanced reading group, so I never got up the nerve to confess my love. He transferred to afternoon kindergarten, but I never extinguished that old flame.

His name was Dennis, and everyone called him Denny. He lived next door to my grandparents, and we would always play together when I visited them. He was adorable, brown hair with bangs and big brown eyes. When I was seven I told him I liked him, and he said he liked me too. Sadly, the relationship never went any further -- I think we were both a little shy. The last time I saw him was in high school, the summer before my grandfather died; we talked about Nine Inch Nails. He had glasses then, and looked very intellectual, if a little pimply.

The last I heard, he was doing a pre-med program at Penn State. I hope he's well, and I wonder if he ever thinks of me.

His name was Josh, and he was the Rabbi's son. We were 4 - our parents thought we were adorable. I guess you could say we "dated" - we did have playdates and sleepovers. My fondest memory is the time at a preschool parent-child dinner when our families didn't sit together, so we used Josh Robinson as a messenger because his parents would let him run around.

Eventually, his dad got a job at a different congregation, and he moved away. I haven't seen him since, but ::sigh:: you never forget your first love... :)

Her name was Rachel. She smelled really great, and was family friends with me. She played soccer, and was always nice to me. I played "house" with her as often as I could. I never told her that I liked her, and on a few occasions hid from her when she came over for shabbat dinner because I thought she didn't like me/because I was too embarressed. She's still in my school (neither of us have changed schools yet) and I told her that I had had a crush on her in eighth grade.

I crushed on John from 1st grade on and off until 7th, when I moved away. I got one little kiss when I left, orchestrated by our friends. Two weeks later he was "going out" with one of my best friends.

During college he emailed me, and we discovered it had been a mutual crush. I had lunch with him 8 months ago, which was the first time I'd seen him in a decade. He lives 20 minutes away, is married, is getting a dual law/public policy degree, and apparently is way right wing.

He laughs the same way he did in 4th grade, and is still very cute.
