victorians!
Jun. 21st, 2013 10:57 amI continue to not find much in the way of actual vintage clothes, but the universe has decided to make it up to me by providing incredibly cool non-clothing stuff. Which is how I ended up with a bound volume containing six months of Godey's Lady's Books from 1862.

It has fold-out colored fashion plates.

It also has embroidery patterns, serialized fiction, advice for newly married ladies, recipes, Chemistry For the Young, and a whole lot more. My favorite part, though, is the section with answers to reader questions.

They don't print the questions, so puzzling out what the reader actually asked is kind of a fun game.
